This was my coffee this morning – delivered to my table at a coffee shop I frequent, where I know the names of my baristas and enjoy the atmosphere.
A place I come to where nothing is expected except great tasting coffee (it’s always amazing) and yet today my smile was extra bright when this coffee arrived.
In such a small gesture Maggie brightened up my day just that little bit more. It was meaningful in that she took extra time to make my day special, a small act that perhaps she didn’t think twice about – a minor task for her but something special for me.
How many times have you done the smallest of things – something you felt compelled to do, as easy as it was – just to brighten another persons day?
Simple smiles at a stranger, bringing home your partners favorite snack, sending that funny photo to a friend to make them laugh through the miles.
It’s the tiny unexpected gestures that bring complete happiness and often they are easier to accept than the bigger ones knowing that they hold nothing by kindness, there are no strings attached that may seem to come with something bigger (though often this too is just imagined).
It’s the small surprises in life that hold the most joy…
So today when you’re going about your day maybe you can find something to make someone else’s day a bit better – even just listening to their stories can make the biggest difference to them. A small act for you but one that resonates into the world.
And when someone does something for you – just say thank you, thank that person deeply from your heart and radiate into the joy that they have shared. Say thank you and pass it along.
